The Kim Kardashian West Conversion

Canva

A polarizing public figure and reality star, Kim Kardashian West is one of those celebrities you either love or hate. She is often slammed for being vain, vapid, and fame-obsessed, among other things. Now, she is being criticized for wanting to pursue a career in law, following in the footsteps of her father Robert Kardashian.

While her method to becoming a lawyer seems unconventional (you can read more about it here), it is both legitimate and legal. She is putting in her time through independent study and apprenticeship, and yet that is not enough for the critics, who feel she should “stay in her lane.”

Kardashian West has been extremely successful in building her brand and becoming an accomplished businesswoman, which is often overlooked as “less than” because she is a reality star, social media figure, and fashion guru, therefore she hasn’t done anything “important.” She is often viewed by the public as someone who is shallow and incapable of contributing to society. Needless to say, the public has had trouble taking seriously the revelation that Kardashian West wants to be a lawyer.

However, let’s examine the flip side for a minute. Kardashian West has built an empire and a fan base of people who pay attention to her just because of who she is. That is power. It is an incredible use of that power for Kardashian West to better herself through the study of law in the hopes of making an impact as a lawyer. She is in a position to draw attention to the important issues, and will likely inspire her fans to pursue their dream careers and make a difference in their own way. She deserves respect for moving forward with her education in a way that works for her, regardless of the criticism and taunting she receives.

We, and women especially, can learn two things from Kardashian West. Regardless of where you are now and what you are doing, you can always branch out in a new direction, pursue a new dream, and try things that are seemingly opposite of your current path. It doesn’t and shouldn’t matter, and it is definitely never too late. There is a time and place to “stay in your own lane,” but the process of chasing your dreams and goals should never be one of them. Secondly, you cannot pay attention to the haters. Kardashian West (and many others in history) would never have gotten to the level of success they have achieved if they had taken personally the comments of even one doubter. When you do something that is unexpected, for some reason others may have a hard time coping with that—and it’s not your problem. Your story is about you, and your life should be lived for the things that fulfill you. Everything else is just background noise.

Whether you are a big fan of the Kardashian clan or not, it is admirable for Kardashian West to take a risk and challenge herself. It will be interesting to see what she does with this new chapter of her life.

Creating Momentum in Your Career: You Have the Power

For many of us who feel the hustle in our veins, we are always trying to level
up in our careers. Success is a constant carrot dangling in front of our
noses; the higher we climb, the more we want to continue. The fastest way
to progress your career and achieve your dreams is to create your own
momentum, which can be easier said than done.

Let me take you back to middle school science class for a moment.
Momentum is calculated as mass multiplied by velocity. So the more you
expand and grow and the speed in which you do it creates momentum. It is
hard to start the pendulum swinging when you are at rest, but once you get
moving, momentum in your career will build, and there will be no stopping
you! While there are many ways to build momentum in your industry, here
are some options that you can start with right now.

Learn to Recognize and Create Your Own Opportunities

Opportunity is always out there. The more you train yourself to recognize
them, the more opportunities will present themselves to you. Whether it’s a
new networking connection suggesting you meet for coffee sometime, a
manager looking for solutions on a company pain point, or a local school
needing volunteers to work with students on Career Day, opportunity exists
in many forms. Take note, and throw yourself in wholeheartedly! You never
know where a conversation can lead.

If you are finding that you are in something of an “opportunity drought,” dig
deep and create a new endeavor for yourself. Map out a proposal for an
exciting project at work. Finally, start writing the book you’ve always wanted
to publish. Learn to code your own website. Regardless of what you want to
pursue, you don’t need anyone’s permission to do it. Adding more irons to
your fire will help your career ignite.

Talk Up Your Endeavors

As you embark on the countless opportunities at your fingertips, don’t forget
to tell people what you are up to! They will never know about your new skills
and adventures if you never bring them up! Plus, your coworkers, family,
and friends are likely to want to support you in any way they can. As you
create buzz around yourself and your work, the odds become higher for your
success.

For those of you who avoid self-promotion because you don’t want to “brag,”
don’t think of it in a negative way. Whatever your career entails, it likely involves helping others in some way and that has value. Plus, when you
encourage others to talk up what’s new in their lives as well, and offer them
your own support, you are creating a mutual benefit.

Give Back and Support Others

On a more spiritual side, gratitude and goodwill create more abundance in
your life. By being grateful for where you are right now, you are inviting
more good things into your life. Giving back generates good karma, and
gives you connections with others who you may be able to collaborate with
in the future.

Whether you become a mentor, volunteer with a local organization, or
simply broadcast the successes of others, you are broadening your horizons,
learning new skills, and reminding yourself of what is truly important in life.
At the end of the day, true success means having a positive impact on
someone else, whatever that looks like to you. Regardless of anything else
going on in your work and personal life, if you took the time today to help
others, you are a success.

Essentially, creating momentum in your career starts and ends with you.
Putting yourself out into the world and using your work to interact with
society is crucial to growth and progress. Don’t hold back. Take some risks.
Do what you’ve always wanted.

Quatro SolutionsWe attended this amazing Digital Initiative launch on December 6, 2013, MEA & Quatro their. Quatro Solutions Consulting Group rolled out eBOLT tablets in two counties. Additionally, they provide professional training and development for the distribution of eBOLT tablets in four Seminole County Public Schools.

I entered an elementary school for the first time since I have been in the United States. It was a fantastic experience to witness the emotion and the excitement of those 4th graders and their teacher. It felt very rewarding to participate to the launch and to convey a message of equality in education.

4 Easy Tips to Bring Happiness in Our Life

So many times we find ourselves constantly focused on that next big challenge in life whether it be a promotion, a companion, a bigger house, a newer car or any number of our individual desires that we wind up missing out on finding true happiness by practicing equanimity in life. We consistently put off those things that would bring true happiness in our efforts to obtain that distant goal. We tell ourselves, “When I achieve X, then I will finally be happy.” while disregarding those things around us that could actually make us happy today.

tickItemLive Now

A great resource to determine what it is that drives our ego, and in many cases creates a great deal of our stress, is the work of Eckhart Tolle. Digging into the concept of “Now,” Tolle shines some solid light on how our ego tends to get in the way of finding our equanimity. We want to understand what our individual happiness looks and feels like. Many times we get down on ourselves for mistakes we may have made in the past or achievements in the future we have not yet accomplished. Although it is good to have an accurate self image of where we have been and where we’re going, we could decide not to let that add additional stress to our pursuit of being happy. Being truly happy results when we recognize who we are, what we have accomplished, how abundant we already are and are satisfied with what we have experienced. If we are in a constant search for being happy more often, we will not allow ourselves to acknowledge and celebrate what we have and be truly happy about our accomplishments. A fact of life is that we are promised tomorrow, so worrying about what may come up in the future will also create the potential for a more stressful life full of fear and frustration. The past offers experiences and learning only. Worrying about what has been done in the past will not change it. We are perfect and unique human beings; mistakes are opportunities to grow. That being said, we could choose to reflect on those experiences to expand the amount of equanimity we feel in life.

tickItemCultivate Equanimity

One of the biggest drivers of having less stress and more equanimity in life is the attitude we bring to any situation. Understanding that we have the choice to react or to respond will change not only the outcome but our level of energy. Those who tend to have a more positive attitude by choice are usually perceived as being much happier. Being able to genuinely appreciate the moments of your life will lessen your stress and increase your ability to be happy.

tickItemDevelop Awareness

Working on our awareness of our attitude in life and our understanding of what makes us happy will give us the ability to identify our inner ambitions and desires and be able to let go of the need to control them. Instead we may find ourselves embracing new opportunities. Ultimately, if we love the skin we are in, it will allow us to love others as well and find some much wanted equanimity. This will also help us keep our ego in check as we see people on the same level as we see ourselves and also be at peace with that. One of the best questions we can ask ourselves is from A Course of Miracles; “Do we want to be right, or do we want to be happy?” Basically, are our relationships with others more important than the issues being discussed? In the end, it is those we know who will shape us far more than what is it we know.

tickItemTranscend our Ego and Lead Ourselves

It is our own individual ego that tends to drive stresses and worries in our lives. Increased worries and stresses will always lead to decreased happiness in life. A great example of this is, say we are driving to work, rocking out to one of our favorite tunes when the motorist in front of us slams on his or her brakes, causing us to follow suit. We spill your coffee, which not only is hot, but will leave a nice stain on our shirt for the rest of the day, and it just so happens we have an 8 a.m. meeting with the boss as soon as we get in. This definitely takes a relaxed drive into work and turns it into a stressful situation as well as sets a foul mood for the rest of our day. At this point, we have the choice to respond by making lemonade out of lemons, or we can stew on it for the remainder of the day, causing much unneeded negativity for us and everyone around us. In these situations, take a quick account of our wins. Although we have a stained shirt and a bit of pain from the hot coffee, other than that we are safe, we were not involved in an accident and we are still on our way to a job that provides us the life we are currently accustomed to living. If we take these words to heart, we will transcend our ego and we will find ourselves a genuinely happy person overall.

One of the more famous proverbs to make its way out of China reads, “When you cease in seeking happiness, you will find it.”

Global Leadership: Have a True ConversationAyez une Vraie Conversation

Intense, robust and powerful conversations are hard to engage in because of our fears, assumptions, interpretations and limiting belief systems. Sometimes it is simply a case bad timing or not enough time. There are many reasons why a situation should not be addressed. It’s also easy to forget to discuss a situation for months or even years later. By this time, the situation is far worse and the relationship may have completely deteriorated.

Think about the last time you had THE conversation that helped you develop into a more constructive person at work and home.

Being new to an environment makes it difficult for some people to feel comfortable in expressing their viewpoints or concerns. This is an issue faced by global leadership, many expatriates and repatriates. The language barrier and unfamiliarity often deters expatriates and repatriates from speaking out. This leads us to become resentful and frustrated. These feelings can lead to blaming others for not caring, disregarding opinions and not understand the reality that we face.

We forget that we never wanted to have the conversation to express our thoughts and feelings. So we never did and habitually remained silent.

Member of the global leadership, if you are experiencing the stress of a perceived lack of consideration and feeling unheard, perhaps you should ask yourself a few questions. It is important to question when and who these feelings began. You should also think about why these feelings exist. If you reflect on it, quickly overcome the challenge and find ways to release the negative energy which holds you back; you will eventually enjoy every fierce conversation you want to have. Going through this process, you will create a new paradigm.

It may be a good idea to request the assistance of an executive coach and expat coach.

An executive coach and expat coach will assist you in expressing your feelings and releasing any suppressed frustrations due to expatriation. They will help you develop inter-cultural communication skills and overcome the culture shock. These coaches are here to help you become more familiar with your new surroundings and diminish the stress associated with making this transition.

Global Leadership who experiences expatriation or any other major life transition seek assistance. Global leadership and expat coaches are not just available for dealing with people who are in distress. They assist people in making the most of and enjoying their experiences in a new cultural environment.

Walk the Talk…#4Walk the Talk…#4

Going through the Soul Coaching TM program, I find myself reflecting on my body.

We often dissociate our body from ourselves and we don’t always take the time to reconnect with it. It feels good to step back to observe our body and to find out what are our beliefs about it. How do you perceive yourself in this body? How does people perceive you through your body? How aligned are your core values with your body?

We want to reconnect, appreciate it and cleanse it like we would clean our house or our car.

Many stressful events happen in our life, we are living in a society were stress has been accepted as part of a job assignment and even of our kids college education. We learn to live with it and we manage very well or not well to handle any situation. At these times, we absorb this stress our body print it as well in every cell. It means that it is very important to “listen” to your body regularly by learning to appreciate it and to respect it.

When was the last time you had a conversation with your body?

Walk the Talk…#3

On the 3rd Day of my Soul Coaching TM journey, the experience become truly interesting. I have a lot more consideration for my body and myself as a whole. We always have part of our body that we don’t like or we don’t accept, and that’s totally fine. Let’s just explore what is really important to us.

We can ask ourselves: what is really important to us regarding our body and our health? What do we truly want to achieve by being more fit, more slim, more healthier?

Our body should be seen as a unique nice and a convenient vehicle to lead us through this journey that is life. Therefore, I want to enjoy it as long as possible to explore and experience every moment of my life.

What about you?

Walk the talk… #2

I consider myself as a healthy person. Even though, I have some bad habits. I exercise, I eat my serving of 5 veggies and fruits per day, and I avoid chemicals and medications as much as I can.

Yesterday was the 1st day of this program. I had spent a great amount of time assessing my body and how I imagine treating it. I realized how my body is a wonderful vehicle for my soul: a great Maserati 4 doors, powerful and fast, that I was given as a gift when I was born. I was wondering myself how differently as individuals, we want to cherish our body.

The car is a great example, who would fuel his tank with diesel instead of unleaded, or who would intentionally scratch his or her own car? It seems to be common sense, doesn’t it?

What about our body? How many times do we inflict ourselves scars, scratches, and traumas?

Let’s ask ourselves what makes us caring more about the material things we can buy than our own amazing Maserati…!

This is what coaching is about, reassess our values, our belief system and explore new opportunities to grow at every level.

As a Coach, we want to deliver to ourselves what we offer to our clients. It is very important to “Walk the Talk” in order to develop extremely powerful partnerships, and to build on trust with our clients. Therefore, in addition to an amazing peer coaching, I have decided to start a 28 days Soul-Coaching® Health Program with Diana, Certified Soul Coach, Past Life Regression Coach, Hypnosis Consultant, Spiritual and Karmic Astrologer and Numerologist Coach.

This Program’s goal “is to remove this inner debris so that you can connect with the spiritual wisdom of your body. This isn’t a diet plan or a technique for controlling the intake of food and drink, nor is it a physical exercise regimen or fitness program. There’s deep intelligence in your body that absolutely knows what you need in every moment and understands that getting healthy isn’t about depriving or constricting yourself. It’s about living life lusciously, and cherishing and honoring yourself. This is a journey to lighten your soul and, thus, lighten your body.”
